WANT TO PLEASE GOD? HERE’S STEP ONE

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists, and that he is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”(Hebrews 11:6)

There is no lack of belief in God in this world. According to The Pew Research Center, more than eight in ten people identify with a religious group worldwide. One can refer to “God” in this day and age and create any number of images in people’s minds, based on their concept of God. Yet the Bible refers to the One True God, without whom no one may have eternal life, (John 14:6).

Yet it also says that it is not enough to just believe in the True God. I can believe all of what the Bible says is true and yet not have faith in Him. That would be like looking at a bottle of medicine, believing it will make me well, and still not taking it. If I am to diligently seek the cure, I am going to take it and trust that it will work. To diligently seek God is not only to acknowledge Him but to want to know Him. It is wonderful to know that God not only can be found but that He promises to be found. “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Prov. 8:17). If you are struggling with doubt and truly seeking the answer to the question of who God really is, these words should be of great comfort to you. He supplies the knowledge and faith to a heart that is willing to know Him.

Why is it impossible to please God without faith? It is impossible without faith because He is the source of saving faith in Christ. Without faith, we can’t even approach God. It is not faith in our faith, but the object of our faith, Jesus Christ, who took upon himself all of our punishment and therefore has allowed us to be acceptable; to be seen as righteous to God the Father. And our reward? Our salvation, joy, peace, forgiveness, and every spiritual blessing!

Are you putting your faith in the One True God? If not, ask the Lord to open your heart to know the truth. Bring any and all of your doubts or questions to Him and trust Him for the answers. Ask for Him to reveal Himself to you through His Word.
